New Starter motor

2/8/2013

Picture

After AViVA's starter motor let me down a few times, I thought it was time to fit a new one.

The old one suffered from a sticking solenoid and needed some gentle pursuation with a hammer.

Here is AViVA seen from Wallingford Bridge.
Back on a very comfortable mooring at Wallingford. Stocked up at Waitrose and had a pleasant wander around the antiques arcade.

This trip got me down as far as Pangbourne. Now heading to Dorchester for another night.

Splendour in the Grass

Our trip to Eynsham for a Sunday outing was fun but really hot! Must have over 30 degrees C, and hard to find shade. One of our family crew members suffers from hay fever, and was a bit miserable.

We observed lots of Red Kites hunting small creatures in the newly mowed fields.
Moored up near Eynsham

Sun Stroke for May

6/5/2013

lunchtime PictureLunch near Radley.
May bank holiday and we headed downstream with our friends + their dog, Monty. This was the most beautiful of days, with strong sunshine.

Even with factor 50 sun cream, we all got a bit pink (not the dog).

Ready for re-launch

21/4/2013

Aviva ready for launch
AViVA with a new coat of anti-foul.
All is prepared for the big day when AViVA goes back into the Thames after a winter rest.

Tarpaulin is off, 2 coats of anti-fouling and a general clean and polish. Fenders washed and back on.

AViVA is still wrapped up

2/2/2013

Aviva wrapped up
Covered in a tarpaulin. Protected from the Winter elements.
Took a trip to Eynsham to check up on AViVA. Covering seems be holding up. I must haved used enough rope to stop the tarp from blowing away.

AViVA sits on her trailer well away from the flooded Thames.

Horses on the meadow
Grabbing a final bit of Summer weather, I packed my overnight kit and headed up river. The sun was beating down as I passed through Port Meadow and got a photo  of some horses in need of a bit of a splash. It's a good life for a horse on Port Meadow in Oxford
