Horses on the meadow
Grabbing a final bit of Summer weather, I packed my overnight kit and headed up river. The sun was beating down as I passed through Port Meadow and got a photo of some horses in need of a bit of a splash. It's a good life for a horse on Port Meadow in Oxford
The stream was strong against Aviva's prow and I pushed the engine a bit to try to get away into the wilds of the upper Thames.
You never can tell how long things will take at the locks, and Godstow seemed very busy with narrow boats. Stll, I was soon under the narrow and low Godstow bridge, although I felt the need to use the hooter to warn some swimmers planning to jump in from the bridge (crazy, if you ask me!).
King's lock came and went and I was soon preparing to head through Eynsham. I stopped off at the cruiser station and filled up with diesel, with a friendly chat to the folks there.
It was my intention to stop at Bablock Hythe for a rest and some tea, but there seem to be a gatherng of small ships there and I could tie up at all. I pushed on and found somewhere further upstream.
