Wallingford Ideal Mooring

27/8/2014

I love getting one of these slots at Wallingford. It is, by my estimation, a lovely place to be.

A walk up into the town from the bridge gives us access to a huge branch of Waitrose. Boaters with plenty of money can stock up their galley cupboards.

Dorchester is a favourite place but AViVA is here to accommodate Zoe, who is on a local Archeological dig.

Sun Stroke for May

6/5/2013

lunchtime PictureLunch near Radley.
May bank holiday and we headed downstream with our friends + their dog, Monty. This was the most beautiful of days, with strong sunshine.

Even with factor 50 sun cream, we all got a bit pink (not the dog).

We took a couple of days out and spent the night at Dorchester on Thames. As you can see here we found a very cosy mooring tucked in under the trees. We had a fabulous walk up to the top of Whitenham Clumps before a supper of pasta and olive bread.

Sunday cruise to Bablock Hythe

8/8/2010

Picture
A late start for us on a Sunday, never-the-less, we managed to reach Bablock Hythe for Strawberries on the grass. The field at Bablock Hythe is private, but a game of frisbie in bare feet is such a pleasure on grass cropped so short.

The light was beautiful on our return downstream, and since a member of our crew walked from Godstow back to Medley this gave us a rare photo opportunity.

You can see one of these photos below. Only now do I see how the fenders are strung out in such a peculiar (yet practical) arrangement.
